Post-Reunion meeting planned

The Reunion Committee will be having a "post-reunion" meeting on Sat. Aug. 29th to review the reunion activities and to talk about future events.  Many people have already contacted the committee asking when another event is planned.  There will be discussion about this at the meeting.  Any suggestions, ideas or thoughts about future activities are welcome.  Please contact any member of the Reunion Committee if you would like to offer some ideas.

Reunion Committee report submitted by Pam Norton Waggoner:

The following was reviewed and discussed at the final meeting:

1) Dinner at Varner's 7 pm Friday night. Since Eddie is on vacation,  Bart is going to call to confirm everything at Varner's for approximately 50-60 in attendance. Nothing formal planned for the evening, just eat, drink and meet your friends.

2) Golf 9:30 Saturday morning. Bart and Tim are meeting at 8:30am. Bart has everything ready. He isn't sure who is wanting to play with whom.

 

3) Saturday at noon at the Cumberland Mall food court for all who want to meet and greet more friends, have lunch, shop, whatever their little hearts want to do. Nothing formal planned.

4) Reunion Committee to meet at Maggiano's at 4:30 to get everything set up.

    a) Greeters table to check people in who have already paid, take payment ($45.00) at the door for those who had not, and distribute name tags. Classmates will also need to sign up if they want a class directory and if they want it emailed to them (provide email address) for free, or purchase a CD $8.00 or a hard copy $20.00. Also those that want a CD of the pictures need to sign up for that. Cost is $15.00 for the CD. A correct shipping address and contact phone number where shipping is involved will need to be provided. These costs will cover printing and shipping fees. All monies will be collected that night, or they will have to mail it to Pam later for it to be mailed out.  These will not be sent COD.

    b) The sound system and power point will be set up.

    c) There will be a memorial spray set up in memory of our classmates that have passed on. It will have their nametags picked and placed in the arrangement.

    d) There are six flower arrangements for the big tables along with votive candles.

 

    e) There will be a table set up for our memories. A Tri-fold board will be displayed along with a lot of annuals, newspapers, programs, etc.

 

5) The committee members need to be back at Maggiano's at 6:30 to be ready to greet guests. Powerpoint will be rolling and the music started  at this time. This will be the beginning of the culmination of all the hard work we have put into this reunion. It's going to be wonderful.

6) Pictures will be taken throughout the reunion as well as the other events.

 

7) Bart and Tim are in charge of the official welcomes.  

8) The reunion ends at 11pm, but if people want to keep the night going, Atkins Park will welcome all who want to come. They stay open until 3am.

9) Sunday afternoon picnic at 1:00pm at Tolleson Park. Bring a picnic lunch and your family.

Report on meeting held June 13, 2009

Present for the meeting were Janice Traylor, Janet Miron Kelly, Eddie Hellman, Bart Watts, Becky Ellis Lallerstedt and Pam Norton Waggoner.  Discussion was held about how to encourage more people to attend and send in their payments.  There are still several that have previously indicated they were planning to attend but have not sent their payments in. At least 16 more couples, or 32 people, are needed in order to meet the financial commitment to Maggiano's of $5000.00.  Decision was made to open the reunion to alumni from other classes who have expressed an interest in attending. Janice volunteered to send out an email to "former students" as a way to try and get additional ones interested in attending,  Janice also indicated that  there are several teachers that are planning to attend as well.  Discussion and decisions were also made about awards to be given at the reunion.  Becky will be in charge of finalizing the planned awards. 

The committee plans one last meeting before the reunion, scheduled for Sat., July 18th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Mariettat Diner.  The committee will meet at  Maggiano's at 4:30 on the day of the reunion for set-up of decorations, tables, etc. for the main event that night.   

UPDATE ON APRIL 25TH MEETING

The Reunion Committee met again on Sat., April 25, 2009 at the Marietta Diner.  All were able to attend except Janice Traylor and Jill Hurst Jones.  Eddie Hellmann joined the committee for the first time and had great input.  He even got on the telephone during the meeting and started trying to reach some former classmates.  One in particular was Mary Ann Buice Kimmerling.  The phone was passed around the table and many had a chance to talk to Mary  Ann!  Plans for the reunion and the entire weekend are coming together.  There are approximately 75 people (includes spouses) who have paid to attend.  The committee is hoping that many more will sign up soon!  We don't want any classmates to miss out on this event.  We also talked about other activities that will take place during the Sat. night reunion at Maggiano's.  Bart Watts is to be our Master of Ceremonies, and I'm sure that you won't want to miss that!  The committee decided to have another phone blitz as follow-up to the previous calls and to invitations that have been sent out.  So, expect a call from a classmate in the near future!  We're still looking for many classmates.  If you know of the whereabouts of any of them or even how to contact a family member of one of our classmates, please go to the "contact us" page and leave any information you may have.  Hope to see ALL OF OUR CLASS at the reunion on July 25th!  A great time of fun is in store!

The reunion committee is planning another meeting for Saturday, April 25 at 10am at the Marietta Diner.  Invitations to the reunion have been mailed out to all classmates whose addresses have been obtained.  If you have not yet received your invitation, please provide your full information, including current name, mailing address, phone and email address by going to the "leave a message" page on this website.  The committee is hoping for a great turnout as many activities are planned for the entire weekend. 

Second Meeting of Reunion Committe

The Reunion Committee met again on Sat. Jan. 17th, 2009.  There were three "new" members in attendance---Pam Norton Waggoner, Janet Miron Kelley, and Tim Harbin.  Others present at thte meeting were Maurice and Deborah Etchison Blount, Bart Watts, Becky Ellis Lallerstedt, Jill Hurst Jones, Janice Traylor and Debbie Holcomb Moore.  After about an hour of "catching up" , a lot of laughter and lunch, we got down to business with the planning.  Many ideas were shared, and 2 hours later, we had some tentative plans made.  The first step now is confirming a place and a date.  This past week there have been several phone calls made trying to get a place confirmed, but so far, no success.  There are still some other places to contact, so the efffort continues.  We hope to have a reunion event that is fun for all and will give everyone an opportunity to catch up and renew old acquaintances.  Check back later for more updates.

Reunion Committee Meeting

The Reunion Committee has a meeting scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009 at 11am at Atkins Park Tavern in Smyrna.  New members, Janet Miron Kelley and Pam Norton Waggoner, graciously volunteered for the committee and both are going to be a great asset to the planning.  We hope to get some definitive plans rolling along and at least set a date.  Check back soon for a new page of updates on the 35th reunion!  And, please help locate former classmates.  That's one of the largest tasks ahead.  Even if you know the last married name of female classmates, that is a tremendous help.  Searching for them based on maiden names is difficult.

Hello CHS classmates!

A small group of us met recently for dinner and had a wonderful time sharing old times and catching up on one another's lives.  Mrs. Traylor (although she wants us to call her Janice now---which is very hard to do) joined us also.  She even filled us in on some tidbits of information from 34 years ago that we'd never heard before!  Interesting!!!!  During our conversations, we all talked about how we hadn't had a reunion since our 20th and we decided we wanted to have a 35th reunion sometime in 2009.  So, we made ourselves the official reunion planning committee.  Those present at that "unofficial" meeting were Becky Ellis Lallerstedt, Bart Watts, Maurice Blount, Deborah Etchison Blount, Pam Housley Terry, Jill Hurst Jones, Debbie Holcomb Moore and Janice Traylor.  The creation of this website is another part of our planning efforts so that we can try to reach as many of our former classmates as possible. 

Please go to the contact us page and let us know who/where you are, etc.  In order to have a successful reunion, we need to let as many former classmates as possible know about this.  And it will probably take some time to locate everyone.  I'm sure there will be some that we won't be able to locate, but hopefully, with the help of as many people as possible, we will be able to contact and inform people about a reunion.
